Prof. Dr. Nasir Amin
Vice Chancellor/ Dean, Faculty of Physical Science, Group Head
He did his Ph.D from Quaid e Azam University Islamabad in 2007 and Post-Doc from University of California San Diego, USA. His research interests include the laser-matter interaction and synthesis of different nanomaterials. He has vast teaching, research and administrative experience including Ex Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad. He has won 7 research projects from Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Science Foundation and PAS. He is also winner of PAS gold medal, Presidential Young Innovator Award and a number of research productivity awards from Pakistan Council for Science and Technology.
Dr. Khalid Mahmood
Tenured Associate Professor
He did his Ph.D from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Asghar Hashmi former Dean of Science Faculty. During PhD, he worked as visiting graduate researcher at Department of Material Science & Engineering, University of California Los Angeles, USA and Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, University of North Carolina Charlotte USA. After completion his Ph.D in March 2014 he has joined Government College University Faisalabad and is still working there. His research work is mainly focused on the growth of various semiconductors for energy and bio-sensing applications. He has published more 150 research papers in International Journals with high impact factors. He has also technical expertise is operating and data analysis of following state of the art equipments. Thirty graduate students (M.Phil and Ph.D) have completed their degrees under his supervision and 7 research projects from Pak-USAID, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Science Foundation are under his credit. He has set up research collaboration with research groups at UCLA-USA, UNCC-USA, St-Andrews University UK, Istanbul Technical University Turkey and many research groups in Pakistan. He got position among the top 2% researchers of the world declared by Stanford University, USA in its issue published in 2021. He also won Outstanding Researcher Award for the years 2016-17 and 2017-2018 in Government College University Faisalabad. He also contribute by working on various administrative positions such of member of Departmental purchase committee along with couple of other committees. Membership of some professional bodies such Materials Research Society, USA and Pakistan Vacuum Society.
Dr. Kashif Javaid
Assistant Professor
He is serving as Assistant Professor (BPS-19) in the Department of Physics Government College University Faisalabad since 2011. Dr. Kashif got his doctorate degree from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences at Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE-CAS), China (2018) under the supervision of Professor Dr. CAO Hongtao (CAS-Member). His PhD is fully funded by The World Academy of Science (TWAS) president fellowship (2014-2018). His research work is primarily focused on the synthesis of transparent metal oxides for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications together with the growth and characterization of thermoelectric materials. Currently working on Ge-based solar cells as well as metal induced crystallization in Ge thin films. During his entire research carrier, he has published more than 40- research articles in International Journals with high impact factors. Coupled with book chapters and single author book. His research work has been published and highly cited in Nano Energy, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, ACS Photonics, Applied Physics Letters, Ceramics International etc. with accumulative impact factor is over 170. Dr. Kashif is a life time member of The World Academy of Science (TWAS), Pakistan Institute of Physics (PIP), MS-NANO, etc. In his entire academic carrier, he has maintained throughout first-division. Up till now, he has produced 12 MS/M.Phil students and 01-PhD student is ongoing as main supervisor. He has also won a project under National Research program for Universities (NRPU-2021), Fabrication of Ge based perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell with deep I-R absorption, Ref No. 20-15247/NRPU/R&D/HEC/2021, net worth of Rs. 13171400/- (thirteen million one hundred seventy one thousand four hundred) awarded by HEC-Pakistan. He has national and international level collaborations with some renowned organizations and universities. He is also engaged in some of the administrative assignments at departmental level such as; Time table Incharge, IT Focal Person, Furniture Incharge, Sports Incharge, etc.
Dr. Salma Ikram
Assistant Professor
She has been working in the field of materials science and nanotechnology with focus on fabrication of semiconductor materials and devices by exploiting their different magnetic, optoelectronic/spectroscopic properties for electronic devices, memory, and thermoelectric applications. She has won a NRPU research grant of worth 9.986 M PKR as principal Investigator. She has awarded a postdoc fellowship in University of California, Los Angeles, USA. She has published 79 research papers (I.F ⁓210.6) in International Journals with high impact factors. During her PhD she also worked as visiting graduate researcher at Department of Material Science & Engineering, University of California Los Angeles, USA for 6 months. She has a hand on grip on synthesis of inorganic materials/ternary alloys through high vacuum systems including DC/RF Magnetron Sputtering, Thermal evaporation unit, CVD and also on inorganic nanostructures through wet chemical route. She has expertise is operating and data analysis of many state of the art research equipment mainly on Raman Spectrometer and photospectrometer. During her job tenure, she, along with her research group have helped to set up two research laboratories (magnetic nanostructures synthesis and NBRC) at Department of Physics, Government College University Faisalabad. 11 MS students have completed their degrees under her supervision.
Dr. Sofia Akbar Tahir

Research interests: Fabrication and characterization of silicon solar cells, AlOx/SiNx deposition on solar cells, Field effect passivation on silicon solar cells, surface texturing in silicon solar cells, Modelling and simulations of silicon-based AlBSF, PERC and TOPCon solar cells, Modelling of Perovskite solar cells, growth/fabrication of semiconductor materials and devices, characterization of semiconductor materials by electrical and optical techniques, synthesis and characterization of metal nanoparticles by chemical reduction method and seed growth method, optical properties of metal nanoparticles.
